Do you want to invest in sustainable energy? Find out everything about SDE + now!

What are the subsidy opportunities for your sustainable energy project? The subsidy scheme Sustainable Energy (SDE +) incentivises €6 million for projects that contribute to a more sustainable Netherlands.

On oktober 2 2018 the second application round for the SDE + subsidy opens, with a budget of €6 million! The SDE + subsidy scheme focuses on projects that generate energy from renewable energy sources and thus contribute to a more sustainable Netherlands.

The generation of energy from renewable sources is often more expensive compared to fossil sources. The SDE + subsidy therefore compensates the difference between the cost price and the market value of energy delivered! The market value is determined annually and your subsidy amount increases when the market value falls.

The SDE + subsidy focuses on projects that produce gas, electricity and heat by means of the following sustainable methods (categories of this subsidy scheme):

  • Biomass
  • Geothermics
  • Water
  • Wind
  • Sun
  • Wind at Sea

Conditions and considerations

How will you receive this subsidy now? There are a number of conditions that you must meet:

  • Only the producersof the renewable energy are eligible for the SDE + subsidy. This means that if you subcontract the production to another party in a joint venture, only the producing party can receive the subsidy.
  • In addition, depending on your project, you must have the required permits to qualify
  • In addition, detailed conditions apply per category (sustainable methods). We can point out the conditions that your project must meet specifically and guide you in this.
The moment at which the SDE + subsidy application is submitted is of great importance. Our experience with this subsidy ensures that we can properly weigh the risk of late applications against the return – specifically for your project!

In addition, for the SDE + subsidy it is important to submit your application at the right time. The scheme consists of three phases, with the subsidy rising per generated kWh per phase. However, the probability that your project will receive the subsidy will decrease as your application is submitted at a later stage.

How can we help you?

In view of our experience with applying for the SDE + subsidy,we know which moment is perfect for your project – in this way we ensure that you get the maximum return from this subsidy. We will weigh the risk of applications at a later stage with the higher subsidy that this generates, and thus clearly identify the opportunities for your project.

The deadline for submitting an application for the SDE + subsidy is November 8 2018. We will be happy to sit down with you to discuss what this subsidy scheme can do for you! In addition to submitting the application, we will of course also help you with other subsidy related matters, such as subsidy management, business analysis and reports on your financing options.
